Inverter Location

We just picked up a new 2015 Thor Hurricane 34J and cannot fing the inverter. Our "good Friends" at Camping World of Tampa are clueless. I have opened any and all compartments. It must be located behind a wall or appliance.

I need to check the breakers on it to reset an overload situation.

Can any one help.

It should be within a few feet of the house batteries due to DC wire sizing. You may be able to follow the large wiring. Mine is mounted high upon a frame member in the storage bay closest to the house batteries. You have to crawl inside the bay to see it.

Are you sure it has one? I see no mention of it in the Features and Specs, and the standard Hurricane has only one house battery (so not much power to supply an inverter).

It's fairly common in that price range to have only a small inverter, e.g. 300-500 watts, that powers only the tv and DVD player, so they can be used without the generator. It would likely be in the cabinet with the DVD and such.

If you have a general use inverter for the other 120v outlets, it will probably be very near the battery(s) and connected with a heavy-duty cable. Follow the cable from the battery positive post.

The Thor Hurricane and Windsport floorplans with the exterior wetbar come standard with an inverter, (31S, 32N, 34F, and the 34J).

It's a Xantrex Pro XM1000 inverter.

Also, most floorplans come with two Group 27 12v house batteries, standard, (32N, 34E, 34F, 34J, and 35C), there is room for up to four 6v golfcart batteries in the battery bay if preferred.

If you remove the four Philips screws holding the XM1000 digital control panel to the wall, you might be able to trace where the "phone" wire goes to. The other end of that "phone" cord is plugged into the inverter.

Hi PaulSueTrave,
Welcome to iRV2. Can't help with the inverter location however, misery loves company. Finding the inverter on most coaches is an adventure. Welcome to the motor coach life.

Their web site says it is an option:

Look at your window build sticker to see if it was added.
