Inverter question?

I've checked and can't find what is probably a pretty dumb question but after reading some of the threads I do not know the answer. Am I supposed to be turning on and off my Xantrex inverter? My RV is on 20 service for the refrigerator when parked at home, I never dry camped for more than a few hours while traveling and all the other times we are on at least 30amp service. Just wondering, for the last year I have not touched it and it's little green light is always on.

If you are not using it I can not think of a reason to leave it on. There is a parasitic load (probably not very large) when it is on.

It all depends on how your coach is wired. My inverter is controlled by an on/off button. I can use all my AC and all my DC equipment with the inverter off (if plugged into AC power). When not on AC power, I use the appliances and outlets that are wired to the inverter when it is turned on. Some coaches require the inverter to be on to use all appliances and outlets.
