This, unfortunately, is sometimes the best response. I do this often on another board were the board owner professes to be more knowledgeable than he really is on some topics. Of course that limits knowledge exchange that these boards and knowledge exchange is what makes these boards so beneficial.
Reread the first few posts here and you may arrive at the same conclusion I did. It wasn't really the message, it was its delivery that derailed the post; turning it into a chest bounding thread.

Every HR I've seen since the early '90s works this way.

Rusty,
My question was in reference to post #52.You seemed to be saying your Magnum didn't do what Magnums do.

Sorry about that. My comments (jargon) were in reply to post #53 where it was implied that, since your Magnum was hooked directly to your house batteries, that it may NOT charge your chassis battery also.
My statement simply said that the Magnum didn't have to be configured to charge the chassis battery, because the circuits in your HR (known as a BIRD function) are designed to close the isolator relay any time charging voltage (voltage above 13.2) is sensed at the batteries, regardless of the source.
This is not true for all coaches, however, the HR is known to be designed this way.
Your chassis battery, and house batteries, should charge from shore power as well as from the engine alternator.

I also am going to ask the moderator to close this thread. This thread long ago passed the point of being informative and a lot of the posts are obstreperous.

If you want to know more about the BIRD, look at this: http://www.beaveramb.org/PDF/PDF%252...Z5QnmK35Bmes8w
This is the one commonly found in Monaco RVs.

We're finally getting some intelligent response. If you're not interested, then unsubscribe from this thread rather than throwing your weight around and trying to control our lives. By the way, I will have to consult the dictionary to learn the meaning of your great big word. How impressive, hahaha
