IOTA transfer switch

My neighbor has a damon tuscany 40 DP and had power problems. The electrician checked all the input breakers etc and when I opened the compartment where the shore power comes in I had them drop the breaker right now. The center lugs of the transfer switch had melted and about caught fire. He will have to get a new transfer switch and google says there are issues with the iota lugs loosening and overheating.

If anyone has had real issues and can suggest a better replacement my neighbor would appreciate it.

Moral of story do not loan a good fluke meter to SOB coaches in the park then they hope you know more than they do.

I would not do it due to liabilities so the electrician jumpered input plug to coach and taped off the gen cables while we wait for new switch.

Thor has a recall on this transfer switch. Mine melted and I had it replaced on the road but found out later of the recall and Thor sent me a check for the repairs.

IOTA transfer switches suck!. There have been plenty of failures of these ATS systems, the 50 AMP one for sure. There have been some fires as a result of these faulty units and many failures like mentioned above. The company that makes these units was originally called something else other than IOTA but the name escapes me at the moment. They shut down and were reborn as IOTA. If you have one of these you need to do some research and I think you might want to change it to another brand. Just Google IOTA recalls or fires and see what you can find. While some RV manufactorers are doing recalls, I don't know if the IOTA folks even acknowledge their problem.
