IR extender box

I have a an AVI-20 connecter box in the area of satellite receiver and DVD. The IR buds don't seem to work for the tvs even tho it seems that's what they are connected to. I have 2 IR buds. 3 cords go into the wall that appear to go to the 3 tvs in the coach. The door on the cabinet is wood. I don't think I need the IR buds for the tvs. Can I hook those up to the satellite receiver and the DVD so I can keep the door closed? I have UHF antenna for satellite receiver for the rear bedroom. So that isn't a problem. I didn't want to change the door out for glass door to be able to communicate with the receiver and DVD.

If you are pointing the IR remotes at the tvs, you are right that you don't need IR buds for them. I have IR buds located near each tvs and they have wires that send the signal back to the satellite receiver and DVD so that they get the remote control signals as well. That way I can always point my remote at the tv, even though the channel change function is really being done at the receiver (located in mid coach on mine).

Where are your IR bud receivers? I would think the three cables you mentioned are bring signals from the tvs rather than to them.

Yes it looks like the IR is coming from tvs. There is a quarter size ir bud near each tv but I can't tell how they work. The cables go to the connecter box in the cabinet. When i block the remote from the tv and point the remote only at the ir bud it wont change the channel. Then there is also two small tear drop emmiters coming from that box. Is there a way to hook those buds to the satellite receiver and DVD?

Check with Tiffen and see if they will send you an electrical wiring diagram. That will come in handy down the road. I have owned three Monaco products so I'm not much help. Go under the Tiffen owners forum and post your question I'm sure someone is familiar with your model and can answer the question.

ok, I might be wrong and hopefully someone will correct me if I am. But when you say IR Buds I think of the IR extenders. The ones I have seen are used to control an IR remote sensor. For instance you would put an IR bud in the closed wood cabinet you mentioned and it would recieve the signal from your remote via RF. The bud would then beam out the signal and have it bounce off of the door then back to the IR sensor. I have this system to control my sattelite and DVD in my bedroom. The remote I have is a system made by logitech and is very very very flexible. I can program it to control each device by RF or by IR. My sattelite, and DVD player are in the closet. They have an RF reciever that recieves communication from the remote and bounces it off the opposing wall back into the units IR sensors. The Remote directlly controls the TV via RF. My direct remote control unit will either go into RF mode which means it has to have everything controlled by RF which would be only the sattelite. Or it controls everything by IR which means no having things in the closet. either way I dont see your IR extenders you are talking about actually taking information into their units most of them are control units and work by bouncing an IR signal off of a wall into the controlled device IR reciever. The RF unit for the IR remotes with my system is only a little triangle box that is about 3 inches per side and a half an inch thick. You might look for something like that in your system.

Thanks for all the help. Got it all working after calling tiffin except for the sat receiver. Found out on line that a lot of IR extenders don't work with DISH receivers. So I just need to use the UHF function.
Thanks everybody.
