Actually the drivers license requirement is for your HOME state and is good everywhere even in kalifornia. For example, in Oklahoma you only need a regular operators license to drive any size rv and your license is legal in all 50 states driving that rig. Length is another matter and IS the option of the state to set overall length limits on rvs and other private vehicles.

hank you for contacting the California Department of Transportation
(Caltrans). The maximum length of a single-unit vehicle in California,
including motorhomes, is 40 feet. There is an exemption for tour buses and
motorhomes up to 45 feet in length, but only on certain routes. Those
routes are shown on this maps:
http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/traffops/tr...45-bus-map.htm. (Click on
the red numbers to open each regional map.) A motorhome over 45 feet in
length is not legal in California. There are no permits available for a
52-foot motorhome, as the oversize permits are only issued for a load that
is non-reducible, such as a tank or a piece of equipment.

Also, if you are towing a vehicle, then the maximum allowed length of your
vehicle combination is 65 feet.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you,
Casey Robb

Model numbers have nothing to do with coach length, other than to give you a ballpark guess. You'd think they would, but that would make too much sense.
