Is it safe to drive with a blown airbag ?

1995 Fleetwood Flair, front-engine gasser, 454 c.i., P30 chassis.

So one of my checks prior to taking a trip is checking pressure on my suspension airbags, which look very similar to this:



I inflated my passenger-side airbag to the recommended 75 psi. Then, I inflated my driver-side airbag to the same pressure, but when I disconnected the airhose, I heard a hissing sound.

Yup, I got a BAD leak.

I really don't have time to fix it, and I have a trip scheduled in a week. The CG isn't that far, about 60 miles of smooth highway.

So my question is: Is it a good safe to drive my rig in this condition, and would it harm any other suspension components ??

That distance won't matter, you used to see them all the time leaning to one side. I'd let some out of the other side myself, did that on my P30 years ago.
You do not have take the front end apart to replace it, cut the bottom out with a hole saw, clean the edges, wrap the new bag tightly and tie with string, put the dish soap to it and push it up thru the hole. Did both of mine that way 20 years ago.

Check the fittings and hoses first, they are easy to replace. As stated, not too bad to repace. Hardest part on ours was getting the old one out. Vice grips and pliers finally did the job!

We bought a new set and just replaced the one. Now we have a replacement waiting for the other side.

As already mentioned I would let some air out of the other bag first. Take your time and you should be OK.
