Is your DP making a mess when purging air?...then get in here!
My air dryer is purging air (normally) but it is right over a horizontal sheet metal plate to keep the moisture from being purged on to the exhaust. Is anyone else having this problem? It really makes a mess!
I'm thinking of making a 1" PVC line that goes from the bottom of the air dryer purge port and routing it down to below the frame but I'm open to ideas!....

Just asking, has your air dryer been changed and do you check the air valves after each run to see if you have any water in the lines. When I got mine I had CC change my air dryer, no room for a little fat boy when you dump the air.

While you're working on your air system, I'd check your dryer to make sure the filters are good. I understand that they should be replaced every year.

Yep. I bleed off a little air from the tanks before every trip...there's never any moisture in them though.

That puff of air you hear from a DP is the purging of moisture captured by the desiccant filter and purged out of the purge port. This is completely normal. The filter needs to be changed every two to three years UNLESS you are regularly seeing water coming out of the petcock when draining the air tanks.
I was just wondering if anyone else had the problem where the purged moisture is be directed onto a shelf (like mine) rather than down to the ground.

I made a "shelf" for mine to exhaust onto, cause it was blowing the gravel off the driveway leaving bare spots all over. No mess on mine though, is it oil or water or a mixture of both that is making the mess on yours? If I remember right, you just have bought your Coach not to long ago, how old is the air dryer filter?

Both, but mostly water but after it cycles a few hundred times, there is a slight oily mess...I use simple green to clean it up but I was hoping to fab something that would direct it down to just below the frame.

I am now wondering why you have so much carryover of oil? Was the old filter a oily mess when it was changed? You should not be having a lot of oil blow by going to your dryer filter...... not sure how bad it is, but if it is making a mess, would indicate a compressor problem maybe??

Thanks for the link but I don't have water in the system (it's caught in the filter and purged) and I don't think it's an excessive amount of oil... It's not enough to puddle or spill over the edge of the plate but the shelf does get messy after the engine runs for several hours. Everything I've read says this is normal...every purge cycle will emit some moisture. There is always 'some' humidity in the air and when it is compressed it is heated and when it cools it creates condensation.
Maybe I have a problem.... ....I'll do some more research to see if I do.

Ok here is what I did. I use a 1" PVC and painted it black. It runs horizontally from the purge valve over to the backside of the frame and then runs down vertically and terminates with a 45 deg fitting. Right now it's held on with just tie wraps to make sure it works. Then I'll mount it to the frame with some SS mounts to clean it up. So far no mess!

That is a real dumb place to put an air dryer!
Just my two cents.
