JB Radiator Specialist - Failed Aluminum Units

I'm posting this under Class A instead of a specific owner group, as the Aluminum radiators from Radiator Specialist made it into many coaches (Country Coach, Monaco, Alpine, etc.).

A recent thread on the CC board talked about these again, and I wanted to ask two questions for info sharing amongst us all:

1) If you had a failure, was it catastrophic lost of fluids. Or was it gradual enough that with addition of distilled water as needed, you could have proceeded to a shop of your choice for repair?

2) For those of you that have replaced yours, ball park costs to do so.

My understanding is that not all of these will fail, but that they have a higher probability of doing so.

Ours was a slow leak from the tank/core mating surfaces. It could be repaired but the shop would not give a guarantee so I opted for a new core. R&R was right at $4K

Mine is a slow leak that is getting worse. Repair shop says 7 hours labor and repair should be $ 2500. range. This and new tires put a dent in the RV fun budget.
