Just did 4000 miles in 9 days of driving - with 2 weeks between
I went 4000miles (edited - round trip) from Central Tx to
Thomas Point Beach On-Line to see step kids.
Had the HR parked there
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater
Had the RV parked at a nice spot.
This fellow here seemed to miss the update on the Tides
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater
Hit the AF museum in Dayton Oh on the way back
National Museum of the USAF
Cummins just motored along. 9.3mpg and 50mph over 4000miles ant bad. I got back and my sink had backed up. I was tempted to get back in the RV and just tell them call me when it's fixed.
The lane switches on I80 were not boring. A passenger would need some stiff drinks.

Sounds like you had a great time in spite of all the miles. I've had too many trips like that.
I look forward to retirement and slowing down just a little.

Good mileage. I don't think I ever got much over 8 from our ISC. The present rig is showing 7.6 mpg over 47,000 miles which is pretty good for an ISX.

I actually AM retired. I was gonna try to stop in and find some HR or class A folks on this trip but the priority was the step kids and getting the machine back in 1 piece. I looked for WM parking lots 500M apart and just made a beeline. On the way up I missed a tornado setting down in upstate NY ( on the same thruway I Was on) just 2 hrs prior and a set of storms that went thru Dal/FT was just near me around tx/ark. ..
If it hadnt been for realtime weather it would not have worked. A passener would have prob blown some chunks at some of the lane switches on I80..
More pics..
DID I say I love my step kids???

That's totally awesome! I think they're just your kids. You love them and put them first just like you would your own kids!

I wont argue with you in the least. They would easily be given any organ or limb I could provide. And they return the respect. I didn't give them any genes (lucky for them) but maybe I provided something in 11 or so yrs.
Oldest is an OK Univ med grad and she has intelligence that boggles my mind.

Been there done that. takes a full day each way. And I would not have been able to enjoy the time at the camp nor the museum..
Thats what I got the class A for.
All part of my plan...Future trips will likely include the kids.
good day.

A couple of roadside pull outs; a number of parking lots and a few truck stops. I was just shy of my 62nd birthday & to took a few days to recover. My wife was with her friend when she passed away 3 weeks later.

Thumbs up.
I had got the DP with the plan of being mobile to get back to family in short notice. I didn't need to execute that plan bc my mom passed 7months ago. But Im still gonna enjoy it.
Met a lot of folks both at the CG and also in the WM parking lots. Some folks would just stop bc they were either thinking about getting an RV or recently had. I told them about IRV2.com.. I said I had learned a lot forums or else I Would not have attempted ownership..
Met a nice couple and their 3 kids (from Mass) and the father at age 33 had been fightin stage 4 cancer for 3 yrs.. They were enjoying a 63 shasta and life.. !!!

9.5 mpg is impressive. I was getting the same on my coach until I recalibrated the fuel useage in the VMsp to reflect actual fuel used over 1500 miles. Then the display dropped to 7.3 which was the correct number. Still not bad for the 52,000# MH/trailer we have. However, I preferred looking at the 9.5 figure.

Actually, I calculated consumption when I filled up .. on average I was going 800 miles and putting in 85gal. Had one trip tank that got 10 (to Columbus from maine - 835 miles and 79.5 gal). But over all was about 9.0.
This is the second trip where it was in the 9.0 to 9.2 range for 2000m.
I consistently allow 9 for estimates and after 750 I can still run the genset and the low fuel has yet to stay on when level.
Works just perfect for me. I plan a fillup about midway thru a day.. and it gives me a good break. It also allows me to position the fillups where they are not at the most expensive parts of the nation.

I had a 1999 39' Bounder DP with ISB 275 hp Cummins that consistently got 9-10 mpg with an occasional 11. That all changed when I went bigger and heavier and pulling a trailer. Now, I just fill it up, pay for it and get back on the road. 2000 miles in 3 1/2 days and I'm ready for a six month rest before coming back home.
