Kool Seal

Why cant I use Kool Seal on my epdm (rubber) roof. Its a lot cheaper than the Dicor system. Ive used it with great success on aluminum roofs nothing to mix. Whats the big deal with not being able to use it ??
Thanks

I think it has something to do with the oil base.
I have used it on my 1996 Gulfstream with GREAT success and 1984 Southwind with mixed results. I don't know if it will cause me issues in the future but doesn't really matter the WHOLE roof will need to come off anyway.

At the front of the roof it switched to a plastic piece over the drivers area and left a seam that would leak every other time I drove it. It was quite funny to come in and see the pulldown bed bottom sagging down 10 inches full of water. I put elastometric on it several times it would be fine at home go camping come home next time rained it leaked.

When they came out with the rubber roofs, We used several different kinds of sealants. Almost all the sealants with a petroleum base caused the rubber to swell. DO NOT use kool seal. I promise you, it will be a mess.

You can use Kool Seal, but it has to be the Kool Seal RV version (unless you have a metal roof). The regular Kool Seal is NOT rated for use over EPDM rubber. See the product on the Kool Seal website.

X2 on this stuff. I used it on my 20 + year old EPDM roof and it worked great.
