Kountry vs Horizon

Looking at 34' ers..Both are pushers K Star is 300 cumins and Horizon is a 330 cat (I think) K Star is 2002 and Horizon is 2003. The K Star claims a Freightliner chaisis..not sure on Horizon. Any inf on either? K Star owner says 9.8 mpg w/tow and just unde 12 not towing...is this reasonable? We now own a 31' 94 Seabreeze w/454 Chev.

Thanks CER1944

Welcome to irv2.
Here is a brochure and Owners Guide for KSDP.
Newmar also made a luxury Kountry Aire that year, a more expensive coach.
Good luck in what ever you decide.

I get about 10.2 mpg in my 35' Kountry Star (Cummins C8.3 and Allison 6 speed). Subtract .5 when towing a Camry on a dolly. This is running at 65 mph at 1750-1800 rpm. I hope this helps..

I get 10.0 mpg with my 2003 K Star 3905 not towing and averaging 65 mph. 330 Cat on a Freightliner Chassis. Those number seem legit. Good luck . Seeya on the road

I have an '04 ksdp 3353, just under 34' with the 300 cummins. I have it for 3 years and put about 20k miles on. I pull a Ford Ranger and would say the mileage claims are tad optomistic but not too far off my experience. A lighter toad than I have and speeds closer to 60 I'd say it's doable. For what its worth I've been happy with my purchase, the lower end of Newmar models but still reasonably well built. A good choice for an entry level pusher.
