Just finished up my class on Friday at Camp Freightliner. I also had my coach serviced while I was there. The class was excellent and the staff and facility was first class. I was scheduled to have a M3 service along with changing all my belts, hoses ,coolant and tranny service. On the way there from Houston my alternator went tits up and I also had a brake roller problem (rust) that needed attention. These extras almost killed my other services since I was only scheduled for 2 days and they are full. They worked it out and put a few extra service techs on my brake rollers and were able to accomplish all my other service requirements. Fantastic group of people.

I might make this an annual trek for the service dept alone. That's how much confidence I have in their techs and fair pricing. I also would like to sing praise to Mike Cody our instructor who was excellent and enjoyable to listen to and Pat in the service department who coordinated all my service. She was an absolute delight to work with. It will be extremely hard to find another shop to do service with that could come close to these folks. Well done to Gaffney FCCC.

I'm currently camping in Charleston SC at James Island County Park. Extremely nice place.

"Brake rollers"? Are they usually termed "S cams"?

Not sure. On the service ticket it says cleaned and lubed front and rear brake rollers. I believe they basically disassembled all 4 brake components and cleaned them up and lubed them. I saw an exploded diagram of the brakes and it included the S Cams you mentioned. They said even new coaches have this problem if they don't get used often.

X2 on all of that!! We've done the Camp Freightliner twice now while in Gaffney for service, and we continue to learn things. The Gaffney facility is the only FL service facility in the country wholly owned by FL. All others- ALL-- are franchise operations.

We pretty much remain now in the eastern third of the country, so we try to tailor our travels to roll through Gaffney for scheduled PM routines. I know a number of folks who specifically travel to Gaffney for service. FL, TX, SD, WI, MI, PA-- they make the trip!

X3 on all the positives. We live in southern California, have been to Camp Freightliner once and for service there twice. Excellent professional, dependable service and fair prices minus 5% for FCOC members. Even the townspeople seem glad that we are there!

South Carolina is a delight.
Highly recommended for anyone willing to make the trek.

2X. We are in that group! The folks at FCCC are just terrific.

We always time our travel south to coincide with annual service at Gaffney. Not only to they 'get it right' right out of the gate, they are friendly, personable and genuinely happy to have our motor home business. We have not had that same experience with even FL/Oasis dealers all the time, so we really like heading to Gaffney.

Plus, the big peach water tower never fails to give us a great laugh. Frank Underwood manages go keep it in good shape each year and that's why we keep voting to keep him in office on House of Cards! Go, Frankie!

If you go, like JFXG says, don't miss Camp Freightliner and don't miss the FL plant tour (located in a different place than the service facility where they will shuttle you to and from the tour).

I agree! 1000 miles door to door ...we stop each year commuting to Fl! Always great service and even better attitude!

Have to concur with everyone's opinion on Gaffney. The stuff I learned from Mike has more than paid for the class fees. Also, Pat and the maintenance folks are great. Nothing but good reviews for Gaffney!!!

I assume that Camp Freightliner is also for those that have Super C rigs based on the M2 or other Freightliner business class chassis.

Same for us, can't say enough good things about the folks at this facility. We just got back and made our reservations for next year same time before we left. Only an emergency will take me somewhere else for service.
The class alone was well worth the cost of the trip and Pat was a pleasure to work with.
Don't miss the plant tour it's well worth your time. If you've never seen a 600 HP engine outside of a coach you won't believe how big that thing is.

2X! FCCC Gafney does all my chassis work. Just left there a week ago myself.

If you aren't a Freightliner Chassis Owner Club (FCOC) member, join now. 5% discount on parts and a substantially reduced labor rate at FCCC. Many Freightliner Oasis (RV Chassis) shops also give an FCOC discount, usually 10% off the total.

Timon..........I don't recall meeting anyone at CF who wasn't on a Class A chassis, but the simple fact is I don't know the answer!

Best bet is for you to call Syndi Hamrick at (864) 206-8267 and ask. Syndi handles (or at least used to handle) all the scheduling and booking for the Camp Freightliner sessions.

Another believer in Camp Freightliner and their service. I was there in March for an M4 service and the camp. I will definitely be going there for service as they are only 1.25 hrs. away.

They do building straight truck chassis in Gaffney, so I would expect they could help on the M2 chassis. I believe you will be answered by Pat when you call. Everyone there was super for talk and work with.

The Freightliner M2 is a different chassis than the motorhome chassis and is not made or serviced by FCCC. Gafney is the Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, a separate corporation under Daimler Trucks North America. The M2 is built by Freightliner Truck Corporation and serviced by Freightliner Truck dealers. As far as I know, there is no factory service for Freightliner trucks.

Franchised Freightliner dealers can do warranty repairs on either Freightliner trucks or FCCC's custom chassis, but only some Freightliner truck dealers are also certified Oasis (motorhome chassis) service centers. Oasis shops provide additional services more compatible with the motorhome market.
