Kwikee step motor replacement

Has anyone found an exact replacement for their step motor? I've attached a photo with the number from the motor. The closest I've found is ACI 83094 but the gear on the motor is not a match so I'll have to remove it from mine. I'd prefer not to swap the guts from my old one to the new one but that may be the best I can do.Click image for larger version

lavamanz here is some info on the step motor I found in my files. I would like to give credit to the original poster but I've lost that info.

----------------start

This is some info I have collected over the years from various threads for Kwikee steps. Trouble shooting chart HERE There is a trouble shooting guide HERE If you need sources for motors or parts check the following: Motor PARTS 1 PARTS 2 PARTS 3

1) AM Equipment 402 E. Hazel St Jefferson, OR 97352, (541) 327-1546 the motor is $29 plus $7 shipping.
2) Replacement step motor at AutoZone. It's a Siemens ;Window Lift Motor;, part number WL43003. 3) Autozone. The brand is Siemens The ID tag lists the following numbers: 59720-20 121899 4) A 1986-1995 Ford Taurus left front window lift motor matched my motor. NAPA part # BK655-1395 $63.99 I ordered my motor from Auto-Zone Manufactured by Dorman part# 742-206. This has a lifetime Warranty and was $49.99. " Also these guys rebuild the older unencapsulated circuit boards: HERE

New info in 2012 Parts | AutoZone.com

Aci Auto/Window Lift Motor For your 1995 Ford Truck F150 1/2 ton P/U 2WD 5.0L EFI 8cyl Enlarge Image Part Number: 83094

On disasembly of the motor I found the plastic plugs severly lopsided due to all the years of strain, new plugs cost $8.00 at Autozone or Amazon, other than that the Autozone Ford Mark VI would have worked $ $44, but I saved myself $38

Just rplaced my 25 series Kwikee step motor with a Dorman 742-277 window lift motor for a 1986 Ford Taurus driver side window lift motor. They said the Taurus had a high torqe motor which is why the number ends with 277 meaning high torqe. My steps zip in and out with this motor application. It was a special order item but only took one day for them to get it to my local AutoZone store. I also noticed AutoZone had rebuild kits for Dorman window lift gear boxes (plastic gears) in the Help section of the store.

For those of you with this same step motor as me, the ACI 83094 from Advance Auto Parts was a close match. I did have to transfer the gear from my motor to the new one, & shorten the index pin by ~1/8" so the motor would fit up to the gear box nicely. Also I replaced the connector With female spades. It works great & was <$40 with lifetime warranty

I replaced my kwikee step motor for my 1998 fleetwood bounder with a 1997 Ford Taurus driver side power window motor...it was an exact match and it had the metal gears, not the plastic ones. It fit perfect! I bought it at a junkyard for something like $40 and that was 3 years ago and it is still working great!

Kwikee step motor

That is the same number on my old step motor by Kwikee. I replaced with the motor from Advance auto parts with no modification. Gears matched perfect, but had to put in a vise to push together. Now it works better than it ever did before and seems to be quieter. Just used white lithium grease on moving parts. $45.00.

I had the same issue ... had to grind about 1/16 inch from the pin and also removed the C-clip to allow the motor gear to fully seat in the adapter gear. Without the changes the motor would not sit flush on the gear box.

So maybe the gear on the old motor was worn a bit & I could have forced them together. I just didn't feel comfortable making something fit by using force . Oh well, I still have the new gear as well as the old plastic internal gear if needed at a later date . I think my motor was the original from 1999 so it lasted a long while.
