Kwikee steps rattle

While driving down the road our kwikee steps will rattle briefly. I think it's from a gust of wind as it is intermittent. I looked at the and all screws are tight, however I can wiggle or hit them and duplicate the noise. Is there supposed to be something to compress the steps to prevent them from rattling while retracted?

you might try lubing it with a motorcycle chain wax. it is a little more protective and will not attract dust and dirt. available on amazon or most bike shops.

My now 20 year old Kwikee steps have never rattled.

I can't say why but I, (like beaverfever) lube it with chain wax: MAXIMA - Chain Wax - Chain Care - Cleaners - Accessories - Cycle Gear

And both step treads have always had Prestofit step rugs on them: Prest-O-Fit Jumbo Wraparound+Plus RV Step Rug

I retired in 2005 and 2009. (It,s a short story.) I can't say about 2014, but the earlier steps had rubber bumpers on the bottom of the steps. They compressed when the steps were retracted. Check that yours are not missing.

A simple trick you may try is to buy the outdoor carpet that wraps around the steps and is held in place by a spring. That should give some padding.
