Unhappy kwikkee steps

Does any one have this problem with there kwikke steps? They work some of the time. About 2/3 of the time they do not work. tapping the motor with a hammer gets them working for a short time. Any ideas thanks

remove the motor, bring it to auto parts store (O'reilly, Auto Zone) and replace it with an automotive window motor. easy swap at 1/2 or less the cost thru an RV parts store.

I had the same problem a couple years ago, purchased new motor, worked a couple weeks then stopped again. The common problem is the electrical connection. I twisted the male ends slightly then plugged back in. That was at least 2 years ago, no problems since.

Two problems: the first is the electrical connections which may have corroded and create an open circuit. Clean your contacts.
Second: which happened to us. The motor just failed. The replacement is very simple. The motor is a Ford electric window lift motor. Easy to get from ADVANCE AUTO PARTS.
Not that expensive. Has been working for over three years now. Good luck.

If you feel capable, open up the motor and clean the brushes and commutator.

What window motor do they use? Part number or model and year?
