Ladder loose at roof : repair

Where the roof ladder attached to the top of the rubber roof was loose. The original wood screws were rusty and the wood was stripped out there. The wood seems solid everywhere else so don't expect much rot. Picked up a stainless steel plate, cut to fit, tapped holes for #6 machine screws and attached to roof with stainless screws. Next will seal with Dicor lap sealant. I'm simply posting in the event others have a similar problem, they could consider a similar repairs

I was reading your problem and you came up with the same solution that popped in my mind. That thing ain't going anywhere now. That ladders grab rails really extend lengthwise over the roof what brand is it.

One little install point - if one were to do this again, I would put a ring of sealant on the new plate perimeter and around where the ladder mounts secure and then squash it to the roof and screw. A little more protection if the exterior sealant dries out and cracks.

Nice fix. Better than new.

The sealant is for moisture penetration. The parts are aluminum and stainless which doesn't rust.

Stainless is very corrosion resistant. Depending on which type of stainless, from never corrode ("marine stainless") to really hard to corrode. Repair looks fine to me. Looks great, actually.

Are we talking about the same things?
