I had a hitch ball on the front of my old Chevy Blazer. Much easier to get da bote in/out. But never in salt water. Nonono!

Glad I found this site. Planning to buy a DP soon (got my eye on a couple) and I have actually wondered if I could pull my 22' Sea Hunt and launch the boat with the DP. Being from that part of the country where many adventures start with the phrase 'Hey, hold my beer and watch this' I have seen many boat ramp failures and do not ever want to BE one

I'm right there with you.. Been launching my 22 ft boat for years off a Class C. Then I got this 25 ft and it wasn't much different (adding 2000# to my tow). Now with the Class A (gaser).. well, I haven't done it yet, but I think it might be a little more challenging.

I would think the issue is more the ability to get traction and power to pull the weight up the hill.

We have 19ft bayliner and used older e250 that was worthless as tow vehicle due to small engine.

it was very well braked so going down easy but pulling out not so much.

But local lake has very wide ramps so a sideways climb works but requires good timing.

Would think same for any mh.

If buying from dealer and lake is local and you have boat then request dealer launch first before sale.

ive seen every tow vechical made go in the water from driver error

I've see perfect cars run into perfect trees on perfect weather days...

so people that don't know how to drive or back a boat in the water...... don't try this....

I have done every tow vech. amagined... except for the DP... only done it about 4 times....

I live in vegas and even done a dry run down to havasu to make sure I could turn around on the ramp... no problem..

My aunt and uncle had boats that they backed into the water with all of their coaches. Starting with a 1976 26' FMC rear engine Mopar, then a 1984 34' Barth DP, then a 1989 36' Beaver Marquis and finally their latest coach was a 1996 38' Beaver Marquis all spanning over a period of 30+ years that I know of before them passing away a couple of years ago.

Boating and RVing was in their blood and they loved it. They had their boat being towed by their coaches all over the U.S. and parts of Canada in their many years of traveling and they never had any adverse issues of putting their boats in the water. I would ask him about the engine and the rear compartments but he said they didn't need to back in that far. I never witnessed it so I couldn't say first hand.

Wow people think that's a steep boat ramp??? Could it get any wider??? The lakes we go to have single lane ramps that make that one look like it's uphill to the water

The ramp in the picture, I wouldn't hesitate. Some of the steep ones I've seen, no way. Depends on the conditions but I'd use caution. handing someone a few bucks to launch the boat would be a good backup plan

My concern with launching with a DP isn't the brakes, but, rather, the batteries. The location of the batteries certainly varies from coach to coach, but on mine, at least, they are fairly low and to the back. The original ramp pictures (at Moabi) obviously keeps them dry, but I've been on plenty of ramps that are a lot steeper than that. Heck, the old Moabi ramp wasn't as nice as the current one (we kept a slip there from 1987-2008).

But done right and carefully I don't think it's a huge risk. You actually have a much, much higher tire loading that on an empty-bed DRW pickup so the odds of spinning the tires are much less.

I've lanched at moabi, Windsor, and pirates den./lapaz in parker...
no wheel spin problem,,,,,more worried about it sliding in the water with no one in the coach

when I lanched it by my self I was in the boat and thought I felt the motor home sldie a hair... probley was just a wave in the water...but did make me think what if??/ so I think the wheel chock is gonna be the cheep insurance peace of mind... I never worried about it ever with the gassers???

were gonna be going to powel again soon... can't wait
