LCI Leveling Retract Time-out

Driving down the road and all the sudden beeeeeeep. LCI Leveling display says Retract timeout.

I pulled over.

It is 98 degrees outside.

I tried clearing the code by holding down enter and retract buttons for 3 second per the instructions I can find online.

But right before or after that. I’m not sure which because of all the commotion, my wife saw white smoke coming out of the front grill of the MH. The front left hydraulic was leaking fluid on the hot engine area and it vaporized into smoke. Anyway we lost about a pint or two of fluid from the top of that front right cylinder.

That shouldn’t happen right!?

So what do I do next to diagnose and fix?

You either have a seal in the cylinder (o-ring) leaking or a hydraulic fitting or hose. Not to bad a fix but if it lets you jack slowly extend then you are going to have to rig a way to tie it up until the repair and you wont be able to use the jacks.

LCI uses a flat connection with a recessed O-ring. Check and make sure that the connection is tight. If it is, check the O-ring as they have been known to pinch or blow out. If it is the O-ring, NAPA or a Tractor Supply type store will have them.

What caused it to spew out fluid?

Was it that i left the system on while driving and it kept trying to retract and the upper limit switch (assuming there is one) would not switch due to a switch issue. And so it built up so much pressure that it blew out.

Or was it the 96 degree heat

Or something else

Do these systems stay pressurized while they are off. It would make sense that they do.

Can i drive with the system on or is that a bit issue that caused the blow out.

I’m just trying to understand WHY it happened before I try to fix it or get it fixed

What will happen if I try to lower the jacks now? I’m thinking fluid will come out again of course. But this time I could see where it is coming from. So whether I fix it or the selling dealer does I will know if they are full of it. And they have been Totally bold face liars in the past...
