LCI not leveling

My LCI leveler doesn't do a very real good or consistent job of leveling. The performance isn't consistent, sometimes the right will be low, sometimes it will be front low. I have found that I can level once then retract the jacks and get a better job the second time which makes a little sense; pads settling, etc.

The manual tells how to manually level it to "suit your likes" but also has a zero calibration procedure but it makes it sound like the zero calibration is done in controlled setting, not at a park.

Or am I expecting too much from it and just tweak it after it does its own thing?

You can (I recommend it) set the Zero Point Level any where as long as you have a level with you to manually level the coach and then set the controller's zero point calibration.

I just went through this with my new MH equipped with a Lipper Ultra-Level system . The calibration can be done anywhere as long as you can get the coach level. So far I've found I can do a better job leveling the MH using the Manual mode than letting the system do it in the Auto mode. I use this procedure:

Lower the rear jacks until the pads touch the ground
Lower the front jacks until the pad touch the ground.
Level the MH front to rear using front or rear jacks as needed
Level the MH side to side using the left or right jacks as needed

I've found I can get the MH level with the jacks at a lower height than the Auto system can. Also the movement using the manual system is much less violent than using the Auto system. I use a torpedo level on the fridge as a reference point to determine level. Eventually I'll install a bubble level next to the leveler control panel and shim it to indicate level when the fridge is level and plum.

I called Lippert and asked them about the violent movement when using the Auto level mode. They indicated that was normal but I don't like the idea of it. I doubt I'll use the Auto mode again.

On the zero calibration, do you let the air out first?

I don't think it will make a difference (air in or out) for the level calibration. All it does is tell the system what level looks like. It doesn't matter if how high the coach is off the ground. If the issue of the air suspension when leveling is not addressed in the MH owners manual I think I'd call the MH manufacture tech support and ask them.

I did a zero calibrate and was able to repeat the quality of the auto-level in my son's driveway. I hit AUTO when we got to the park tonight and it pulled both front wheels off the ground! I did an eyeball manual level and all is well.

I'm adding a 3' level to my tool box!

Yeah, I think auto is not so good. Did twice in the same spot once the front wheels on the getting the other the front wheels almost of the ground. First step out was a doozy. Think I will do the manual thing now.

Gave up on the Lippert "auto" level function. I just use manual leveling and use the bath door to determine when level. Just put the rear jacks down until they just touch....level front to back using front jacks....then level side to side. Takes no more than thirty seconds.

How do you know when the pads first touch down when manually level

You will feel them "bump" the ground.
I usually go a second or so more, then proceed as outlined above..
Like the man said, you end up level at a much lower height.
Yes, I dump the air ride completely BEFORE starting this procedure. Again, lower end results...

For me, I can hear a change in the sound of the pump motor as it comes under a load when the jacks are down and it starts to push.

I just read through my LCI manual.. Apparently you can configure whether the LCI dumps the bags or not.

On mine, when ever I hit either the auto or the manual button, it dumps the bags.

I am not thrilled with the "auto" function either. I have found, like others, I can level better and lower than the auto.
