Levelers vs slideouts
My 2011 Itasca Sunova has three slideouts. Is it better to level the rig before extending the slideouts or after?

Do you dust first or vacuum?  No seriously, there is a bit of debate over which to do first, but I cannot help but think of the potential twist on the frame if you extend the slides before leveling. We always level, then do the slides, and when we leave, we bring the slides in, then let the air bags go to travel mode.

I believe that all Winnebago products recommend leveling first. Some others (Monaco?) do not.
I agree with the logic of level first. It also puts less stress on the leveling system to run it with the slides in.

What does your owner's manual say? I would think the manufacturer knows what is best for their products.

The manual for my Monaco knight instructs to extend slides, then level.

Exactly!
Our Newmar says to level first then extend the slides (most are this way), a few manufacturers say to extend the slides, then level. Do what YOUR manufacturer says!

One of the reason I have heard about extending the slide out frist was to ensure that there was enough room to extend them. I have always leveled before extending the slide outs, but I most always ensure that there is enough room to extend them.

Thor said level first then slide and reverse closing slides. Some members have said in other threads on this slides then level. Go by your MFG. and you should be ok.

We always level 1st then put out the slides. When leaving bring in the slides then bring up the jacks.

My 2011 Monaco Knight owners manual reads as follows:
CAUTION:
The motorhome must be supported
by the air suspension (air springs)
whether extending or retracting any
slide room. Do not operate the slideout
room with the air suspension deflated
or when supported by hydraulic jacks
(if applicable). Damage to the slideout room, mechanism or seals can occur.
I reccommend you do as stated in your owners manual.

Follow manufacturer directions different models have different procedures. In certain brands you could pop out the windshield. As you can see on previous post there are different opinions.

Slideout operation
Thanks for all of your comments. Winnebago says "Level Coach and set the Parking brake first" before extending.
I questioned it because my sales / service rep says his preference is to extend before leveling.
When in doubt, follow the manual which I will do
