Any idea what brand of levelers ? Logo should be on the control pad.

HWH, Power Gear, or Lippert are common.

Is the panel powering up? I have to have the ignition key in the on position for mine to power up. Can you hear the pump running?

On my hydraulic power gear system the control panel lights up but the system will not operate if the battery disconnect is engaged - requires both chassis and house batteries' power.

Power Gear, brake set, tranny in neutral, engine running. Power light on @control panel.

Without a users manual that would be my guess .
Could be the engine running overrides the operation , my system the pump will only run in the " accessory " position , engine running , only the store button works.

EDIT: In the " Files " drop box , in the blue bar , below your welcome message , there are links to manuals for many RV systems .

Well Gang,
I know that these systems are changing all the time and, the manufacturers of them alter some of the procedures. On our coach, an '04 Itasca Horizon, 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT, we have the HWH 625 Automatic Computer Controlled leveling system.

In the owners and service manuals, it specifically states to NOT RUN THE ENGINE while leveling. The primary reason is, the ride height sensors/valves will try and compensate, as the coach is lifted at any particular angle or height, other than what they are set to see.

So, on ours, (and maybe this might apply to the OP) the engine is shut down and air-parking brake set. Then, the key is put into the "Accessory" position. At that point, you power up the HWH panel. Then, push the power button again and at that point, the air bags start to deplete themselves of air. The automatic level sensor has already determined which end/side is low. After the bags have almost completely been bled, the hydraulic pump turns on and, the appropriate jacks, (normally the low END first) will start to extend.

Then, once those have made contact with the ground, and, have lifted it to acquire level from front to back, then the side JACK for the low side is deployed. Once it hits the ground and levels the coach from side to side, the remaining jack deploys and, once it makes contact with the ground, it will raise that corner of the coach, approximately 3/4"-1" and, then the entire system will shut down. DONE!

Now, is this the way the OPs system should work, not a clue, I don't have his manuals to tell me whether the engine SHOLD or SHOULD NOT be shut down prior to starting the leveling procedures. We all need to read our owners manuals to know and understand how things work, so that when things DON'T WORK, at least we know that we're properly performing the procedures and not guessing.
Scott

My system is engine on, park brake on, engine in park, turn on the levelers and hit auto, also the battery disconnect must be on (not in the disconnect position).

With ours, the power light comes from the ignition (accessory pos also) via the chassis battery, but the controls, including the jacks down indicator light are powered by the house batteries.
House battery switch on?
Park might be better for the tranny and maybe engine off as well.
Used to be that our jacks retracted automatically, when the engine was started and that's the way we always did it. Now it doesn't work that way anymore, we're using the button now and I have no desire for fixing whatever and most likely the reservoir's float switch is at fault. The audible alarm still works, but not like before and only if you try and put it gear.

My 98 Fleetwood with Power Gear levelers need to have ignition on (not running), in park and emergency brake on. Push power on button on control panel.

Leveling jacks

I have to raise the jacks first before I can lower them. Not sure if I have a small leake bit I have to do this since it was new. Just found this out by trial and error when my jacks would not lower.
