Great advice and SHOULD be a no-brainer. Looking for things to do to fill the time while sitting this winter, I filled my reservoir with the jacks down. After thinking about it...I wondered where all the fluid in the jacks themselves was going to go when they were retracted? Needless to say, I used a hand pump to suck out the 3/4 quart that I added. Will check the level (1/2" from top of reservoir) after retracting the jacks and prior to leaving next week.
