Leveling system Newmar gasser

What leveling system does Newmar use in their gas powered coaches and are they self leveling?

Equalizer systems. Yes, they have an auto level function. Their manuals are available online:

My 2012 Bay Star has a self leveling setting. It works fairly well, but there are times where if there is too much slope from front to back, the system won't work. At that point, its either use some blocks under the front tires or try leveling manually.

It's best to check the manual for the leveling system used in the MH as the systems have changed over the years.

From what I've read, if manually leveling, level front to back first, then sides. But, .....check the manual!!

Yes it's self leveling, but most times we do it manually. The auto has a tendency to raise the coach to high when not necessary.

We will do rough leveling with our plastic blocks first. If it is very steep we will put the blocks under the wheels first to get it as close as possible, then use the levelers, front and back first, then side to side.

I prefer to do it manually to prevent wheels off the ground. If the front is low, I drive on blocks first and will trench the rear wheels if necessary. I use the LevelMate Pro to determine when the coach is level. I watched a Tiffin Alegro Bus pull in next to us once and auto level. His rear wheels were off the ground and I told the owner who then had to readjust his position in the campsite and drive onto blocks.

As I recall, the manual states to plant all four jacks on the ground before doing any leveling. I wish there was an indicator that tells you they are in contact with the ground, but there isnít. Front pair first, then rear. The level front to back before side to side. Press All Retract when you want to retract them.

Interesting, my HWH system levels side to side then trim front to back per the manual.

different mfgs use different procedures for leveling. read the manual.
it will give you the correct procedure, no matter who made the system.

Of course not. I see this forum as a learning process as it should be for all of us.

Our self leveling system also usually raises the coach too high. When it does that, I alternately lower the front and back, a little at a time, until it is at the height I want.
