License and RV Costs Savannah Georgia?

There is a possibility that I will be moving from Michigan to Savannah Georgia for a new work position. I have tried to find the cost for licensing my Newmar Dutch Star 285 DP motor home. Anybody here know the costs for licensing and if I have to do anyhthing personally to be able to drive it? Thanks in advance to all for your input.

Licensing is not too bad in Georgia. On my 2004 Monaco Signature my Tag is $20 with a $25 renewal fee. What will get you is the Ad Valorem tax which costs me $3500 a year. No special drivers license required. The Ad Valorem tax can be computed from what you paid for the MH if it was used or what you paid for it new then they depreciate it from there. The tag fee and the Ad Valorem are due on the month of your birthday. If for example your birthday is in Sept then you would now only pay tag fee good until Sept and on renewal you would pay the Ad Valorem for the next year.

There was just a vote to try and lower the Ad Valorem percentage but I don't know if it was approved or not.

You will love Savannah. If you haven't seen it get the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

You pay the Ad Valorem EVERY YEAR? Ouch... Guess I won't be moving "in with my daughter" (She lives just south of Savana in Darian.

To the OP.. If your puppy needs a trim, She works at the Pet smart still farther south, Brunswick I think is the name of the city.

The ad valorem tax goes down a bit each year as the coach ages and depreciates. We have some friends in ATL who's coach lives in TN.

In RI the call it a property tax, although the value of the MH may go down each year. The property tax rate always goes up. We got the hell out of there pretty fast. FL is a tax friendly place for us.

Ga is not a tax friendly state!!!!! The birthday tax (ad valorem) is due every year on your birthday on every vehicle you own. I moved all vehicle registrations to Fla. Still trying to sell the house but market cinditions are still unfavorable. You may want to check into the God Sam Club mail forwarding service out of Pensacola, Fla. Check out their website.

There are 4 states that allow full time from what I understand

NV, TX, FL and I believe SD, though there have been some recent changes in SD rules which might make it harder, (Blame the Fed's and the Patroit act)

Note that ALL are no personal income tax states.

Ad valorem is based on value and the county you live in such as Fulton county (Atlanta) would be higher than a smaller county. Mine runs about 1,500 a year. And don't forget about cars. Boats you pay property taxes on.
