Every one I've been to - of any decent size and capability - has had their own lifts and tools, don't think I'd trust one that didn't in anything but an emergency!

Yep, I believe they use their own equipment... although the one time I had a flat changed roadside, the guy just used the leveling jacks to lift it.

Gene,
When I had my tires on my 33' Damon I took it to a local tire store that handles alot of 18 wheelers and they didn't even ask about the MH jacks they were will prepared to use their on equipment but,I would think alot of places are different.Good Luck and SAFE travels

Ask before you buy. If they say "your levelers", leave.

I Learned the hard way but your never use the motor home levelers for maintenance. Extending them that far weakens the springs and destroys the seals. After repairing my levelers I started carrying some 8x8x4 inch hardwood blocks to keep from extending so far.

Well; since not many shops are exactly fighting for bus business and any RV repair shop gouges you to work on the rig, and tries to charge you $65 (1/2 hr labor) to check the air pressure in my tires; And you may have to make an appointment 2 months ahead and be prepared to leave it for a week or two. I'm perfectly happy to do a simple thing like use my jacks to lift the MH for them to change my tires if it makes it a little easier for them. IMO, any one who won't must have dozens of shops advertising to get their motorhome tire changing business.

I have used my levelers to rotate and add my centramatic wheel balancers, one axle at a time only. Works great!

My jacks won't lift the motor home.. (They should but they won't) I have alternative means.

The one time I visited a tire store they had one floor jack that would do the job, but alas we needed to lift two wheels to do what needed to be done.

I, have a 2nd jack,, No problem.

Depending on manufacturer--lifting your MH's axles off the ground with you leveling jacks may not be a good idea. Generally speaking, you can lift yr front axle off the ground, and many people often do. Depending on the kind of suspension you have, the axle is usually suspensed from the springs-- so no problem. However, with a trailing arm suspension, your axles are lifted off the ground by your shocks. Again, probably ok for the front axle but there is a lot of weight in the rear axle to lift. ...good luck.

PS--"assume" that whatever method is used, they will use jack stands to secure and protect both themselves and your MH from a sudden and precipitous drop.

PSS--wheel chocks will also be needed as having the back wheels off the ground will negate the parking brake--yet another reason for not lifting the rear axle off the ground when camping.

I just had my motorhome tires installed and the mobile unit that came out had standard floor jacks. I didn't want to move the MH off the rock driveway, so I did extend my rear levelers enough so that he could work on them.

Not ideal, and I didn't like the idea, but I did do it, once.

The best answer for individual cases probably lies as usual with the maker of the leveling system and/or rig manuafacturer.

One widely used system is the HWH brand, which has the following language in its
FAQ page:

WARNING and Safety Information

24. Can I use my leveling jacks to change tires?

No, the jacks should not be used to lift the vehicle to change tires.

25. Can I use my hydraulic or air leveling system to service my vehicle?

Neither leveling system should be used to raise the vehicle to perform any maintenance.

Check those owner's manuals, Folks!

While I think the jacks can probably handle the weight, not sure they can handle the weight when the forces necessary to change the tires are applied. Even if the can, just doesn't seem worth the risk.

I always go to tire store who service big trucks, they always have the appropriate equipment to change my tires.
