Lippert Steps

When is the light on my step suppose to be on? I was going to connect some LED lights to that light for the steps. I have not seen that light come on for some time and need to trouble shoot it but didn't know or remember when it usually came on.,

I have to turn the porch light on for the step light to come on when the step comes out.

As you can see, there is no single answer to your question.

Mine comes on only if I have the step switch in the "on" position and the steps are extended.
