Look at this coach

I was returning from visiting my coach at storage the other day. I stopped at a red light just as this coach came around the corner. I didn't know that Dodge made Motorhomes. Anyone know what year this might be? (80's maybe) Looks to be in pretty good condition.

Yep, I think you nailed it. I thought it might be 70's but thought, no that's too old.

Looks like an early 70's Travco - Dodge chassis ,n that timeframe they had 413 CI engines. Pretty bullet proof. There are a few near where I live, resting in fields/back yards

They were all fiberglass. I installed a microwave in one many years ago. They drove surprising well.

I had one back in the 70's. I believe it was a 68 model. Was ahead if its time.
Body was made out of fiberglass. A right and left shell with a seam down the middle.
We drove it a lot and it was very trouble free. Made numerous trips from northern IN to FL with three kids.

Those are beautiful motor homes. I think the longest ones are 28 feet.
Dodge's name was on many motor homes for several years.

Early 60's, Remember a teacher showing slides of a trip she took to Mexico when I was in third grade. They traveled in one like this.

If I remember right Monaco bought the Roadmaster chassis from Dodge. Correct me if I am wrong!

Yes, you're right. I think I remember that Dodge had purchased the plans for a European bus. I think the plans had never gone past the drawing board. Dodge never got around to doing anything with them. Monaco bought the plans from Dodge. I forget the story about why Dodge left the RV market.

Monaco took those plans and started production of the Roadmaster chassis, untested and unproven. It has been a very popular chassis through the years.
