Question Looking at a Thor Tuscany...

We are veteran RVers currently with a 2005 Monaco Camelot. We are thinking of buying newer when our after market warranty runs out in Jan 2017. We have been looking at a Thor Tuscany 42'...I have no knowledge of any Thor products, but I know there are huge differences in manufacturer quality and durability. For example the Monaco brand seems to have a fairly good reputation, does anyone out there have any comments or suggestions regarding the Thor brand or the Tuscany in particular?

Thor Tuscany or Axis or ??

Itasca is a separate brand made by Winnebago that is being phased out.

ON EDIT: I see you corrected the model.

I have only read good and happy thoughts with regards to the Tuscany.

Arrow

The TUSCANY Motorcoach is the high end coach within the Thor Motorcoach diesel line. Tag axles, up to 45' models, 450hp, higher end appointments, solid surface flooring, etc.
Thor's new VENETIAN line is also worth looking into, which includes a drop down front bunk option, even with a front entry.

Both a very similar to ForestRiver Charleston, Newmar Ventana, Entegra Aspire, Fleetwood Pace Arrow, AmericanCoach Revolution, Tiffin Phaeton, etc...

Thor diesel coaches, now also the owners of Entegra Motorcoach, are built in Wakarusa, right between Elkhart and Napannee, and their service center there is excellent, also. You can stop there and plug in anytime.

Looking at a Thor Tuscany...

Our Mandalay is the predecessor of the Tuscany. The Thor model name was "Mandalay" until 2010 when Thor changed the name to "Tuscany" and made a few design improvements.

We love our coach! Solidly built and well designed. If/when we decide to move up to a newer coach, it will probably be a Thor Tuscany 45AT.

We picked up a 2013 Tuscany 40EX last year and we like it. The floor plan is good and it is built with some nice components. Thor has really stepped up their game since the redesign in '14 or '15.

Here is a short history of Thor RV:
Thor Industries - About Thor - Our History

And some of the big names that make up Thor:
Operating Entities - Thor Industries, Inc.
Not yet added here is the acquisition of Jayco and all it's parts (Entegra, Jayco Australia, Starcraft, etc.).

The Tuscany is the flagship of the Thor Motor Coach line. They are beautiful luxury RV's that offer a really amazing price point for that segment.
And, ironically the Tuscany is now built at the old Monaco plant in Wakarusa, IN...1 of 4 plants used by TMC:

Best luck

Some friends have a Tuscanny, about 3yo I believe. They are full timers. Very nice coach. They have had minimal problems with it. The campground makes them move every two weeks during the summer. That's about all the miles it gets on it!
