I doubt you'll find a DP that's only 38' with a tag. Last summer, we traded an Amer Coach 40' Allegiance. Actual length was 40' 10"...no tag.

Monaco Dynasty tag axle coach was made in 38' length in the 2000s until Monaco went bankrupt.

No new tags that short available, plus there would be very little storage with the tag in a short unit

CC made quite a few 38 foot tag coaches. Problem is going to be finding one that someone wants to sell

Newmar makes 40' tag.

A tag axle on anything shorter than 40' takes up valuable basement storage and doesn't serve a significant purpose, other then increased braking ability, and increased load capacity, but it's a law of diminishing returns.

Not only not necessary but two more tires to purchase, and of course the loss of storage.
Last one I recall seeing that short was the old GMC's and doubt you want that

They're out there. Monaco made a 39' Dynasty in 06 and 09. As stated, Country Coach made several of them, but would be older models. Currently, the only coach manufacturer making a short tag is Newmar. They're making a 40' model.

I have a friend that has a 38 CC with tag. I have driven it and can say for sure that it drives a lot better than my 40 without a tag.

Sure you loose a storage bay but you learn to make do with what you have

The tag rigs have the look of heavy duty. but other than that you should ask yourself why do I want one with all the added maintenance and toll road costs etc.. I put 50000 happy miles on 6 wheels over 8 years before I down sized to a 34.

You don't say why you think you need a tag. It's really not going to help if you plan on towing four down, or for that matter using a dolly. Now if you're planning on putting say a motorcycle lift on the back, then yeah you'll want one. Otherwise I say you really don't need it. So if I was you I'd be looking for a 40' with the floor plan that fits you.

As to the comments from several posters it obvious that you have not driven a tag axle coach. I drove a non tag foe 10 yrs and now that I have a tag I would not go back. Much better handling. Just my two cents.
