Looks like tire prices may be going up

I got this email today.

Dear Member of the Michelin Advantage program,
Good day to you!
- Michelin have announced a tire price increase which will take effect on March 1st - Michelin, BFG and Uniroyal will go up 8 % . Others tire brands will go up even higher. Place your tire orders today and benefit current pricing. You can send your tire orders to me and I will communicate it with my local dealers. Upon request.
Also, if you have not test Uniroyal tires yet let me know, I might have specials. Please find attached Uniroyal tire offering and Michelin and BFG price lists.
Thank you for your business!

The Michelin price increase is real, but the note that that IASM received doesn't sound professional enough to be from Michelin. Or from FMCA either. Bad grammar, etc. Gotta agree that his email sounds phishy, even though the price increase is legit. Maybe it came from the tire dealer where he bought before under the Advantage program?

That's not something FMCA nor Michelin would send out. Maybe a local dealer?

Just so there is no confusion the note had nothing to do with FMCA. I have my own advantage account. I will be adding to our inventory early next week and if indeed prices do not go up as informed Michelin will have some explaining to do. The email came from @michelin.com .My only intent was to give anybody who was on the fence about getting some tires the opportunity to save some cash.
I am puzzled why he mentioned other brands will follow suit. Why would he know that?
Obviously I cant verify anything more then what I showed you guys in the note without possibly getting into trouble myself and jeopardizing my Michelin relationship.
Just want to make sure you guys know I am not messing with you.

Rod sent me a personal email which included the entire email he received from what appears to be a legit Michelin rep. Based on his name, I can understand the poor grammar as he is not a "Smith" or a "Jones". A 206 area code phone number was given which would be in the area where Rod lives. Rod has a commercial account that was being addressed by the rep. That would have zero affect on the FMCA tire program. By him listing other brands that will see a price increase makes me believe that those brands are tied together somehow. By him stating other brands will go up even higher sounds a little bit like the old "the sky is falling" story. It could be true but who is to know. Maybe this guy is dealing in rubber futures.

The only real way to find out the straight scoop is to give the guy a call.
