Lost Engine Braking

Not only did I lose my engine breaking but also the back end has dropped to where the mud flap is on the ground. There are no service lights that came on, diagnostics test shows everything is good. Checked hydraulic fluid and is good. The problem came up all of a sudden, it started making the noise like driving constantly over lines on the side of the highway if get to far right, I actually thought it was just the highway. We were on I25 about 25 min out of Albuquerque going north, was able to pull into Black Mesa Casino and kind of stuck here till we figure out the problem. So question is has anyone else had the problem.

How about make, model and year of your vehicle as well as engine/drive train info? Also, air suspension or not?

I think if you strap up your mud flap with heavy duty zip ties that you can limp to a shop without the rumble strip type noise and vibration.

The engine braking is an entirely different thing that a truck shop would be the best place to have it worked on. Same with the air bags.

Your suspension dropped. Driving like that is stressing the drive train.
The same air that works supplies the suspension may also actavate the exhaust brake.

Call a truck, roadside service provider. Don't tear up your drive train.

When the air tanks are full turn off engine and walk around the coach. Can you hear any air escaping from the rear (or anywhere on the coach as you walk around) - I'm thinking possibly a ride height valve is leaking - maybe the rear one. When my front ride height valve went bad I could hear it.
If it is as low as you say I would not crawl under it to look - I was almost trapped under mine as the suspension slowly leaked out while I was under it in front.
You mention "engine braking". Do you have an exhaust brake or engine brake. An exhaust brake is usually activated by air, so following Twinboat's train of thought is good.

As RKins said walk around the coach until you can see the front door of the casino, then walk inside and play the games until you win enough money to buy a new MH.

Then call up the nearest dealer and trade yours in.............problem solved.

lol, that would be more fun, actually I found the problem, the connector at the bottom of the link arm for the airbag was broken, it's only made of hard rubber, I was able to get under and push it up and the tank started to fill, unfortunately I can't reach enough to put a temp fix on it. I did start the motor and back end came up fine and the airbag is holding air. I'll call a mobile service to come and fix it I'm not going to go under again just in case it decides to leak air and drop. Easy fix if you can reach it. you have to be skinnier than me or have longer arms. Thanks for all the responses.

Probably the ride height valve. I had the nut fall off that kept the arm connected to the valve and all of a sudden I was driving down the road with the front passenger side low. I had just worked on them, yup my fault - I guess I didn't tighten it well, so I knew exactly where to look. I pushed the arm up and the bag started filling.
While you have the mechanic under there have him spray the 2 ride height valves up front by the front wheels with soapy water and also the moisture ejectors. I had to replace all 3 of the moisture ejectors too because they were leaking also. Now my coach will stay up for about 5 days.

Here is what a leaking moisture ejector looks like after sprayed with soapy water

A leaking ride height valve

Have the mechanic spray everything. I bought the replacements from Spartan but have been told you can save some money going to a truck parts supply house.
