My jacks make noise with temperature changes. Mine sound like a loud thud.

When it cools at night one of your jacks (one at a time probably) can see less hydraulic pressure and drop a tiny bit. It does BANG! and in our RV that whole side of the RV will shudder at the same time.

I checked with Power Gear - our leveler manufacturer and they said it's normal. They do have a recommendation on their website that if it's a continuous problem to replace 1/2 of the hydraulic fluid with another fluid. I guess it expands and contracts less. I don't remember what fluid they suggest.

It is possible to be a leaking jack seal too. So, check your jacks for any oil on them. And keep the seals lubed - most have grease fittings.

Does it happen every night?
If so, it will be easy to troubleshoot, just leave the jacks up the next night and see if the noise stops

When I saw your post title, the first thing that came to mind was the "thud" I get when I plug into Shore power or shut off Generator. I'm not sure if its the Transfer switch or Inverter (they are located next to each other) but it can be heard from the outside of coach. So I was thinking maybe you have a Shore power issue at night (voltage drop) or due to AC turning on/off or other such change in power demand causing your Inverter or Transfer switch to change modes.

The last time I heard such noise it was a racoon uh... "being friendly" with another racoon.

The expansion/contraction of coach surface areas seems plausible, as does the leveling jacks explanation. Kind of like a big S&B house, settling and dealing with heat expansion.

Wouldn't that have been more of a thud, thud, thud, thud,?

I'm with WDW - my ductwork 'thuds' when furnace shuts off and duct contracts.

Just a shot in the dark, but if you have a power problem, the automatic transfer switch will drop out with a "thud". It will also thud when power is restored.

Just a thought...............

My sides and jacks make noises. Today's thud, however, was a sparrow bouncing off the window. It just happens.
