We bought our gas rig under a similar circumstance, under 10k miles and stored indoors. Even after a thorough inspection go into it expecting things to break. It happens even on brand new rigs. That way you won't be disappointed when something does go wrong (hopefully it never will). But you can justify it realizing how much money you saved over a new one and you are making out on the depreciation. Someone also mentioned an extended service plan. Not a bad idea, but know that they don't cover everything and with the things they do cover, they will try to limit their exposure just like any insurance company dealing with a claim.

Best of luck!
