I have a Italian Splendine (? Spelling)washer drier combo and I'm interested to know what is a low suds detergent. It says in the instructions to use only 2 table spoons but not the kind.

Generally look for any HE branded detergent. These are detergents for high efficiency, front load washers.

On your grocers shelves you will find laundry detergents marked (HE). That is what you want. All of your favorite brands now come in two flavors, regular (unmarked) and HE. Just be very careful to use less that you think is necessary. Liquid detergents seem to be the best for these new front loaders.

Absolutely, stick with the liquid...BTW...if you use any "OXI" products, also find the liquid version. We have found that unless you use HOT water, they do not dissolve very well.

It's a Splendide washer/dryer.

We use ALL brand of HE detergent in ours, but most any of the brands will work.

I believe the directions say you can use 2 tablespoons of regular detergent but all front loaders use HE.

Major sudsing will also happen when you use an emptied out Dawn dish detergent bottle to store some of the HD detergent (didn't want to lug the whole HE bottle around if I only needed a couple tablespoons per load) & then grab the wrong one out of the cupboard. Ask me how I know.

+1 DW says Lavender All is her preference. Uses Tide liquid if she doen't have any of the all.

I recall years ago a commercical for a dishwashing liquid (Detergent) which yammered about how thick and rich the suds were and how long they lasted (Like suds help clean the dishes... They don't).

Dishwashing liquids are "High sudsing" detergents, in fact they add stuff to the mix to make it suds up more.. Why, escapes me other than the myth that suds clean.

Laundry detergents,,, are generally low-sudsing detergents, since you don't see what' sinside the machien (if it is a top loader) they do not need to perputate the myth.
