Low tire after storage
Hey everyone,
We just got our motorhome out of storage to prepare for a trip next week. The front right tire was at 45 psi, much lower than the 90 when I parked it back in October. I inflated it to 90 before driving it home, but I wanted to know if the weight on the low tire damaged it at all? It was never driven anywhere with the low pressure, and I am not sure how long it was low.

If it was not driven at 45psi, you are OK. BUT, you have a leak
that you better find and fix right away.

Not sure if you are running equal balance powder in the tire. If so, do you have a filter valve stem core?

My guess is it is the valve stem. They turn easily on some of the tires and I use a remote tire filling device for safety reasons, so sometimes the weight turns the stem slightly. We don't leave for over a week, should I just check it over the next few days and see if it holds the same 90 psi? If it drops I can drive it over to get it fixed.

Either use some leak finding fluid or dish soap a water and check for the leaks.
I found one valve stem that needed to be tightened a bit but also found the balance powder was blocking the valve open. At the time I had just purchased the coach and didn’t understand how the tires were balanced. I also didn’t have filtered valve stems and I bought filter extensions made by the company that makes the equal balance powder to fix the problem.

Another cause of lost air during storage is removing TPMS sensors to save batteries. Slowly unscrewing the sensor can leave the Schrader valve slightly unseated. Happened to me twice. I now quick press or pop and release valve to be sure it is seated.

In an abundance of caution, especially because I have two small children that travel with us, I am going to take it to a truck tire place on Monday and have them check it over as well as swap it to the rear axle.
