Macerator Toilet

I have a new RV with macerator (sp?) style toilet. In equipping my coach to deal with potential problems, what should I buy? Would a plunger be useful? If not is there something else I should have on hand?

Thanks,

JPL

Filling your black tank too quickly is the thing I've seen. Unless you're really good at conserving water 3 days is about it. Glad we don't have one just because of that.

We have one and have 40,000 miles on the Bus. No problems what-so-ever.

We boondock extensively and can get 14 days on the tanks without refilling water or dumping. Obviously, that's in max water conservation mode, but we've done it numerous times. Two adults and two commodes, one macerator. About 50-50 use on each of them.

We're almost 3 years with duel macerator toilets, never done a thing with them.

Yours has the new style Dometics, which are supposed to be stronger then the Tetford.

They do use more water then the old pedal flush.

9 year old coach with 60,000 miles. Not a moment's trouble with the Thetford "grinder." The previous owner modified the water level adjustment by moving the knob to the front of the panel. When we need to conserve water a little, I just dial it down some. I have gone as long as a week between black tank dumps with no issues.

Friend (Lloydu on the forum) bought his '07 Essex and found that three days was about it with his rig. I think he finally did find the settings and adjust it.
