My wife & I made our first camping trip in the motorhome and I'm happy to say it was very enjoyable with no mishaps or serious trouble.
We traveled about 100 miles to the Washington (state) coast and stayed 3 nights at Grayland State Park. Very nice!
We stopped about half-way there at a state weigh station on Hwy 8 near Brady. It was closed for checking semi trucks, as I had hoped, but they leave the scale turned on as a courtesy so truckers (and RVers
) can weight their rigs. I was pleased to find I have some extra capacity and also that the coach is fairly evenly balanced.
I did have to tighten up a few exhaust bolts on my newly installed exhaust system but that was a minor inconvenience and not unexpected.
We continued on to Grayland and pulled into the State Park and maneuvered our way back to our reserved spot (#100 is a great spot if you can get it).
I managed to back her into the moorage slip without the need for tug boats, just a bit of verbal aligning over the walkie-talkie from the DW. I dropped the hydraulic anchors, slid out the slide and made the shore connections.
Finally, we hoisted the sail and then it was time to C H I L L.
In typical Washington State fashion the skies were a little damp the day we arrived but the sun did eventually make an appearance and the clouds did this funky-cool thing in celebration.
Can't wait till we can do it again!
