I disconnected the 4way plug and tested the coach side. Main power source, step switch and ignition override works as should. The door switch is another matter, with the door closed I'm getting 10.5v and door open .2v.

I would think that this would conclude the magnetic switch has a problem. Wondering how to test the switch?

Another possible reason for two switches is the old... Some other use.

For example.. A "Door Ajar" light on the dash.. Thogh that is not something I have ever seen on an RV, I see not reason not to have one (I also have not looked for on).

On a reverse note: I took a common Automotive Door switch (The plunger type) specifically mine is a JEEP part number.. Mounted it on a bracket over the top extendable step so when the step is FULLY RETRACTED the plunger is plunged.. turning off a warning light on ye old dash.

Mine was originally installed with double sided tape and fell off. I just happened to see the gkid playing with it and wondered what it was and when we got ready to leave my steps wouldn't go up and I knew what it was then. I drilled holes in the door and screwed it to the door.

Problem solved, the stairs are now functioning again. While removing the old magnetic switch the door started working. Turns out it was the fatly ground connection wire on the switch. Drilled a new ground an all works great.

I'd like to thank everyone contributed for your selfless help. RV's are a great bunch and there's more then one reason to call 'em "Class A"

Thanks again and happy trails,

Robby
