I have a 2005 Mandalay by Thor & the 2nd celing panel has dropped on the passenger side. There are strips running across holding the panels & I guess are glued up. Has anyone out there removed any & re-glued. Am looking for advice on doing myself or whether I should take it back to the factory. Thanks for any help.njohns1

Not knowing your skill level at cutting down, removing cabinets if needed and working with a contact adhesives, it is difficult to say if you should make this repair. you will need new ceiling material as the old foam backer is probably deteriorating and will will not hold up very long to just re-glue it. Let me know if you still think you want to make this repair yourself and I can PM you my Ph# and we can discuss it in detail.

If you have the leather like ceiling material, from what I have seen the ceiling panels consist of a thin piece of plywood, with the leather like material glued to the plywood. The leather like material has a thin piece of foam rubber on the back side and the foam rubber side is glued to the plywood. What happens is that the adhesive between the leather like material and the foam rubber comes loose and the leather like material begins to droop. The problem is, unless someone has found a cure, st that you cannot re-glue the leather like material to the foam rubber backing.

Maybe someone has come up with a solution(s) to this problem.

Any idea of how the panels are attached? An auto upholstery shop could easily replace the headliner material, but knowing how to remove them is key.

There's a trim strip between panels; do we just leverage it off?

Between the trim strips, what holds those panels besides speakers and A/C vents?

The trim pulls out of a track. The ceiling material (vinyl and foam backer) are glued to the luan ceiling panel. Remove old ceiling and use spay adhesive safe for foam rubber to secure new ceiling.

Mike, are you saying that pros do it in place, overhead install? Yikes, that would be really, really hard to get the foam and vinyl flat while pushing on it. Is this a 2 or 3 person job?

Yes. Most of the time it is a two person job to install the new. One person to prep.

a friend of mine had problems with his holiday rambler ceiling and he had a local repair guy refasten it up using some star like things with a screw on the end. all you see is a small star in a pattern
