AAA has a digest of length restrictions state by state at

https://drivinglaws.aaa.com/tag/trailer-dimensions/

An earlier poster stated that the allowable length is based on your home state. This is the way it is for drivers licenses, but not so sure about length. It would be good for me - according to the AAA info, my home state has a total length (coach + toad) of 100 feet!

Regards.

Yes. That is what I said. CA max length is 65 feet.

You don't want to rely on Trip Advisor for such legal limitations--as KenG has shown, the FL length for a MH is 50'---Fl Statutes 316.515(9)(a). Can't believe everything you see and read....

Again, nobody is going to measure the coach itself, no matter what some statue might say.
Having said that, I thought that the manufactures would stay within the limits of every state and that the limit was at 45ft, but low and behold, Newell advertises there's at close to 46ft.

Not only that, but the weight of Newells are off the charts. My son's 2018 model weighed right at 60,000# with full fuel, water and some of their things in it. The front was under the 20,000# limit for a single axle, but the drive/tag combo was 6,000# over the 34,000# tandem limit for semi's at 40,000#s. It seems that axle weight limits do not apply to private RV's.

Wrong info. You must comply with each and every states MV laws unlike insurance and drivers licensing. There is no reciprocity on the motor vehicle laws.

So, isn't the price. Off the charts that is...

Not really. There's only one more zero that what many pay.

You and I are both correct. As I said CA has a max limit of 65 feet. As long as you don’t exceed 65 feet you are within the legal limit unless there is an exception for a particular road which will be posted such as a 40 foot limit for that road.

I'll give California credit in that the prohibited roads for 45' would be a bit tricky, at least the ones I'm familiar with.

I like their map, it's easy to use and quickly see prohibited roads. Most states are not that easy to figure out.

Us RVers are special because in 2012 RVs (and buses) can have 24K lbs on a single axle. Also the 34K for tandem axles does not apply to MHs so 20K front +24K drive +20K Tag = 64K as I have never seen a single axle with single tires over 20K.

Also 0n October 9, 2001, Governor Davis signed Assembly Bill (AB) 67 which changed the California Vehicle Code (CVC) to allow motorhomes over 40 feet in length, up to 45 feet, on certain routes. 45' motorhomes are allowed on interstates and on those State routes that can accommodate them
