Looking for some help with Motorhome designations. Ok, pretty sure that a Kountry Star with a KSDP at the end means Kountry Star Diesel Pusher.
Yes, my 5th wheel is a RL (Real Lounge) model. But are the following designations just mfg.'s model identifications, or are they suppose to tell me something, such as: H,M,T,XB,TD,LE,DL,TBS,TSB,SBD,PDD,PBD,TSA,CRE,DSO, WDS,MBS,PST???

You are way ahead of me with the acronyms. When I was working I was a member of the AAA. Association Against Acronyms.

I recognize several of those - they are just manufacturer models designations. Each probably has some origin as an acronym for something, but nothing universal. I don't even bother trying to make sense of them.

Typically, RL means Rear Living room. But then, maybe that depends on the manufacturer.

Just for the heck of it I pick one, TSA, and my search reveals that it is a Tiffin, and I believe it is the Side Access, not a front access. So, TSA. You can search on the specific manufacturer and come real close to what the acronym means.

I think mfr's have a computer program that randomly picks a series of numbers/letters for their model designations that have no relevance to the actual RV. Our last 5-r was a Cougar 286EFS. You would think that would mean it was 28-1/2 ft long, but nooooo, it was 31-1/2 ft long & what the "EFS" stood for, I never did figure out.

The numbers in the model designation usually refer to the usable living space (RVIA standard measure) rather than the overall length.

Every manufacturer comes up with some brainstorm idea on how to designate models. But as things evolve it eventually gets out of whack.

With Tiffin the letters that follow the numbers do have a meaning - but there are those exceptions. The last letter indicates the model:

A=Allegro
B=Allegro Bay
H=Phaeton
P=Allegro Bus
Z=Zephyr

The first letter indicates the number of slides. Originally a one or two slide coach had no "first" letter, only the "center" (floorplan) letter and the "last" (model) letter. When triple slides came out a "T" was dropped in front. When quad slides came out a "Q" was dropped in front. So, the letters went from 2 characters up to 3 characters when triple slides first entered their models.

The "middle" letter is the floor plan, That's where it really gets out of whack. Originally a "D" went dinette slide while a "G" meant galley slide, etc, etc. So a 40DP was a 40' double slide dinette slide Allegro Bus. A 40TGP was a 40' triple slide galley slide Allegro Bus. When the 42' Bus got a new floor plan with a residential fridge it was called the 42QRP, which is a 42' quad slide ("R" for residential fridge) Allegro Bus. Bunk bed coaches typically get a "B" so a 38QBA is a 38' Allegro RED quad slide bunkbed coach. You have to be careful to not interpret the center letter too literally with Tiffin floor plans. Sometimes, when everything is used up they just grab something and throw it in there to make it different from the rest.

Like any initial "plan", things change over time.

Alpine has kept it pretty simple. Our 34FDDS stands for 34'interior length,
FD-Front Door (they also made a MD - mid-door) and DS-douple slide (also made a QD - quad slide). It all depends on the manufacturer whether there is substance to the alpha-numeric designations, or....its just so much alphabet soup!
