MH Break-In??
Just curious - anyone ever had a break-in in their rig?? Coach interior or basement compartments??
Trying to decide if a coach security system is really worth the $$$ they want for a quality system....

Only time I had a break in was when it was at a dealer for service, it had a alarm system and dealer when storing in yard at night never turned on the alarm, if he had at least someone would have called the police.
Never had a break in at home or traveling in 35 years without a alarm in the other coach's, so its your decision to make.

I chose the heapie-cheapie method below. I was mainly interested in protection when we are inside asleep, although I think most intruders would head for the hills when this thing goes off. It is LOUD!

When we were at the dealer picking up our new coach, they had a nice MH in the service bay. Someone had bent EVERY basement door breaking into them. Nasty to say the least.

Beware of Dog sign in window, large bowl on ground by door and an old chewed up leash missing the collar hook is a good deterrent.

I'm not worried about my MH when it is home, and what can you do if it's at the shop? When we're on the road we use this security system.

All depends where you park/store your motorhome. We have had zero problems in a dozen years.

Ours was just broken into last week, However it was not locked as it was at the house in the RV garage and it was locked. So actually they broke into the RV garage and then walked into the coach. They opened every drawer and door and cabinets and all they took was a handle of Jose and a set of two way radios. They also broke into the car and truck and shop, only thing not entered was the house, we were in it asleep. Alarm now installed on all buildings and house and the coach is locked.

Our rig came fully alarmed, hardly ever turn it on, except when stopped at a shopping centre etc.
Nice for piece of mind though, can sleep better at night if I get into one of my paranoid schitzo frame of minds.
To be honest I'm more paranoid about the alarm going off unintentionally than being broke in to!

The only time I've had anything stolen from my MH was when it was getting serviced. The only time it has been broken into was by me after the door lock broke and had to climb in through a window (after some drilling).

MH Break-In??
We were lucky enough a little over a year ago to not be he victim of theft at the covered storage yard but many others were not so lucky. The thieves broke in and stole Flat screen TVs and other items. On the rigs they drilled out the locks. The storage place had cameras but a portion of the fence that was cut didn't have a laser trip sensor in one corner. It does now. We've since moved to a different storage facility that has cameras throughout and monitoring.
On the road, no problems thus far but admittedly we aren't out as much as we'd like. We have a small safe in the RV where we store our IDs and small electronics.

I leave a lot of stuff outside at night. If I'm camping where it is a concern I use a driveway wireless alarm that senses motion. I got this at Harbor Freight for under 20 bucks. It's pretty loud.
