My guess is, how are you at craps? Blow an inside duel and possible $10000 in damage. Never have worn a set out. Change at 7 years, tires are a gamble, older they get the more the likelihood of failure. And agree the salesman are covering their expenses for sale. Go for a new set or preferably credit on purchase and you pick New tires you want.

Here's another approach to replacing tires at five or seven years. We've averaged 10,000 miles in the last five years. If I replace all eight tires in five years it costs me .07 per mile. Replacing them in seven is .05 per mile. At five years it's actually less because some local farmer or trucker will buy my 5 year old tires for $600 to $800. That lowers the cost to almost the same as the seven year replacement. Also, not many people interested in buying seven year old tires. Then there is the peace of mind knowing I have fresh new tires every five years. What's that worth to you??

I wrote a post on how to soften the blow on the wallet and how to have a bit better safety at the same time when it comes to replacing tires.

Just be sure to also read and understand the importance of "Matching Duals" whenever moving tires around on a coach.

I just purchased an older rig with a tag axle. The two front tires were replaced 5 years ago and still look new. The other 6 look like a dried up lake bed. I am going to move the two newer tires to the tag axle and replace the rest with new.

Sounds reasonable to me.
