My maintenance schedule tells me that at my next oil change I should have the tires rotated. With singles in front and duals at rear, that sounds like a big job. Does anyone actually rotate their tires at the recommended intervals?

I confess, I don't rotate my motorhome tires. Honestly, I think I'll replace them due to age long before I wear them out or have any unusual treadwear issues due to non-rotation.

Some folks who do rotate simply swap the two fronts and leave the duals alone.

There is no need to rotate motorhome tires unless there are signs of uneven wear.

I did for the first time at the last oil change, at McBrides Service in Chino, CA, they charged me $200.00, I was getting a flat fixed at Allen's tire and they said they would charge $30. I'm going to Allen's next time.

You will never re-coupe the expenditure for the tire rotations in the lifetime of the tires. They will crack and "run out of useful time" long before the tread wears out.This is providing the front end is in alignment.

When my W-22 reached 5000 miles I had the tires rotated ($90) the tire dealer told me don't do it again. It's a waste of money (He could have said it before he did it!)
I just had my 30,000 mile service at the local school bus garage. The mechanic said don't ever bother to rotate the tires. He went to repack the front wheel bearings as called for and found they were in an oil bath so the repack is not callled for. This service with oil change, oil,fuel and air filters came to $65. It pays to find a local honest mechanic.

I just bought my used class A. As my nieghbor owns a truck tire store, I had him check it out.
He balanced all 6 and rotated them. The fronts were showing wear on the outside edges, he put those on the rear inners.

All 6 were out of balance, some quite a bit out.

Rotation is easy if they are all out anyway, and at least with steel wheels, a peice of cake cause all 6 wheels are identical.

He sent me down the road to someone who could check the toe because of the worn outside edges on the front tires, and sure enough, front end was toed OUT almost a half inch!

She rides and handles a LOT better now.

Your Neighbor should have put both front tires together to make a dual set on one side rather than putting one on each set in the back. You now may have two sets of duals with mismatched tire diameters which greatly increases the possiblity of the smaller tire blowing out.

If you are rotating the front tires to the back due to uneven wear, ALWAYS put them together as a set of duals.

All 6 tires are identical, same model & size, same age, identical except for some barely noticable wear on the outside edge of the tread.

He chose to rotate them so they would all still turn in the same direction. Fronts to opposite side rear inners, rear inners to opposite side rear outers, rear outers to opposite side fronts.

If the tires are that identical, [in my opinion] the smart choice would be to leave them alone and not rotate at all.

I agree with not rotating motor home tires. As was said before, they will need to be replaced because of age before you ever wear them out.
