Michelin XZA2 Energy Tires

I have been trying to work through a local Michelin dealer here in Houston on a set of 6 Michelin 275/70/22.5 XZA2 Energy Tires. They tell me he has none in stock and Michelin has them on back order and no time lime when they may be available. Any one else having this problem. Thanks

I replaced my Michelin 315/80/22.5 steer tires in August of 2013 with EZA2's and my dealer and the Michelin rep told me there was an overstock of XZA2 Energy tires in the market place, so I got tires that were only 3 1/2 months old. Perhaps there was a run on that make of Michelin tire since then but it seems unlikely to me.

Are you an FMCA member? The FMCA national accounts program will save you $$$ and you buy the tire directly from Michelin and they are shipped to their dealer specifically for your coach. The dealer is probably trying to sell you another tire line. Worth joining FMCA. Do you have a TCI commercial tire center close. They are owned by Michelin and I have found them to be accommodating to motorhomers.

It might be the 275/70/22.5 that is on back order.

Yes I am a FMCA member and I am getting these through the FMCA Michelin Advantage Program. This is a large Michelin dealer and handles the Advantage Program. He has not tried to sell me any other type or brand of tire. The dealer says that checking with Michelin that they do not have the tires available at this time. He said that he has 2 other MH owners that he is working with for the same tire through FMCA.

But didn't ya tell me back order was a week or 10 days.... Not like some indefinite - long winter wait....

I had to wait almost 2 weeks, with 3 days of that being they were waiting in the Phoenix hub to be sent to Yuma. It was explained as high demand from snowbirds down here.

Sweet.. That's what I thought you said. And since you were my Guinea Pig - I am hoping for the same turnaround.

I was told by Michelin that when you register your credit card with their FMCA Advantage Program it is active for 30 days or 1 purchase, whichever occurs first. So if you register - buy 2 tires and then decide to go back for 6 more - you need to register again. Or reup if you register and don't buy any for 30 days.

Hopefully any back orders are handled within the 30 day period - but it takes all of about 2 minutes to call and register.

The XZA2s come out of Germany and seem to be in high demand. Anybody that wants/needs them should get their order in ASAP, IMHO

Mine were made in France. I would guess Michelin has the capacity to build this line at many plants worldwide and where they come from at any particular time may be pretty variable.

Heard back from my dealer - it's accept June/13 dates and they will be ready to install Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Order them and nobody in Texas (or anywhere else I guess) knows when they might show up or what dates will be on them. I took the deal.
