Michelin XZE 2's vs XRV

I know that the tire subject has probably been done to death, but I am looking for knowledgeable opinions on the use of XZE 2 tires vs the XRV tires on a 22.5 wheel rim. I am in the process of buying a used class A, and the Dealer has put new tires on which are XZE's. I've only ever used the XRVs on our previous MH. Any opinions ?

Both are good tires, the main benefit of the XRV (RV specific Tire) VS the other truck tires is

"The Recreational vehicle tires we offer like the XRV has emollients in the
tire that will slow down the aging process."

Most RV tires will age out long before they wear out so that is why they add this to the XRV tires. Personally I slather my XRV's with 303, so I guess I am a belt AND suspenders type of guy.

If you got a good deal I wouldn't niggle about the tires.

Thanks for the response Steven. I am very pleased with the deal I negotiated, but I just would like some opinions from people who have maybe used the XZE's and XRV's. E.g. How do the XZE's ride ? I heard someone say that they have stiffer sidewalls than the XRV. Does that mean they ride harder or noisier up front maybe ? The Michelin specs show the XZE as for "regional" use, rather than "long haul". What does that mean, as far as its use on a MH I wonder ? Yeh, I am a firm believer in 303 also. I understand that 303 is the ONLY protection that Michelin recommends for their tires.

Went from XZA to XZE. Has even smoother ride than My XZAs.

I believe the XRV tires don't come in the larger sizes

Hi Meurigd,
I have thousands of miles on XRV and XZE2 tires. For me, I can't tell the difference. Both have performed as advertised. I would purchase either again.

I put the xze2 tires on the Mh last year and like them. They do have a stonger side wall that will help when hitting curbs. As far as ride they seem to be a little better than the gy670 I replaced

We've been riding on XZE2's for over 2 years. We think the ride is better than the XZA's we replaced. The cross-tread "swipes" improve handling; that's the result of the "regional" rating--it's assumed that the tire will be used, at least some of the time, on roads other than interstates.

A minor thing but the revolutions per mile are different even though the same size tire. When I went to the XZE my speedometer & odometer were about 5% off. Cat reprogramed the ECM to the correct number and now the Speedo & odometer match the GPS. I think the ride is a bit harsher but not significantly.

Regarding the question of Regional Versus Long Haul, my understanding is this:

Regional tires are designed to handle scrubbing, such as when a dual set-up frequently makes sharp turns. The turning radius of the inner dual is different from the outer dual, so the tires will scrub through a sharp turn.

Long haul tires are meant for many miles of interstate hauling. Scrub is less of a priority.

For my use, I chose a regional design, Toyo M154 which is comparable to a Michelin XZE 2.
