Michigan To Charleston, SC

I am looking for suggestions on routes and overnight stays for an upcoming trip from Novi, MI to Charleston, SC. What is the best route to take with our 37" Motor Home? Where should we stop for the night? I like to travel for around 6 to 7 hours driving. Your experiences will be appreciated

I assume you will be coming down I75, in Lexington there is the Kentucky Horse Park that has a nice campground. None of the sites have sewer but they have 2 nice dump facilities. If you choose to camp outside the established campsites the cost is reasonable and you have electric. Easy on and off the interstate and if you have time the Horse Park is worth visiting.

On I75 once you get to Knoxville you would then go I40 east and then I26 through Asheville NC. This would be about a 6-7 hour drive from Lexington. There are several campground near Biltmore house, another interesting stop if you have time to tour the house.

From Asheville it is about 7 hour drive to Charleston.

Of course there are Walmarts along the route that you could boondock at if you are only stopping to sleep.

Good Luck
