With my 2015, 31 ft. Class A, V10 I average around 8 mpg towing my Honda CR-V. I keep to 60 to 65 mph.

It Depends......

2011 Tiffin 34TGA. 363hp V-10, no enhancements, 22K GVWR.
East coast flat Interstate, 62mph, no toad, nice day, (no genset or dash a/c running). 8.5-8.75 mpg over 350mi.
East coast flat Interstate, 62mph, no toad, warm day, running genset AND dash air 7-7.5 mpg.
East coast flat Interstate, 62 mph, Honda Fit toad (2,600 lbs), warm day running genset AND dash air. 6.5-7 mpg.
Add City Traffic, good luck getting 6mpg.
Also, bump your speed up, even flat roads, and you can count on .25-.5 mpg drop for every 5 mph.
Does that help?

Gas milage

I am on our sixth class A motor home, Started in 1972 with a Winne Dodge chassis replaced with a 79 winner Dodge chassis, replaced with a 1997 George Boy Pursuit Chevy chassis next was a 99 Winne Ford Chassis, 2007 Winne Vista 30b Ford chassis and I now have a Winne 30t Ford Chassis. They all averaged 8 mpg without a Toad except for the Chevy on the light P30 chassis averaged 10 but the repairs to the Chevy made up for the gas savings. I can increase 1/2 MPG by not using the cruise but the comfort makes up for the savings, For the last 15 years I have towed a Ford f150 gross weight about 5,600 lbs which drops the MPG 1/2MPG. I drive 62-64 MPH except in heavy truck traffic and the I stay with the trucks 65-75 MPH. Wind will affect my mileage 1/2 to 1 1/2 MPG. If you add a 5star tuner it will improve mileage and greatly improve power.

The main thing is you can take everything you need with you and don't have to sleep in motels with lice, bed bugs, fleas and beds that were used for porn flicks, and sex with farm animals.

Mpg on ford v10

I had a 99 Bounder w/ford f53 6.8 V10 that got 4.9 no matter what the speed. I drove at 60, 65, and once or twice at 70. 500 miles into our FL trip the front sway bar connections fell off the right side and we couldn’t drive faster than 52 the rest of our trip because of the swaying like a ship in the ocean. After making repairs, on the return trip I held it at 62-65 mph. Once again 4.9 was the best it would do. I realize it was one of the early 6.8s and the newer ones have better transmissions, but I’ve had my share of Ford V10s. I now have a Newmar Mountain Aire on the workhouse W22 chassis w/8.1L V8 and get 9-11 on Fl flatland and 8-9 in Ga and Tn country driving the same speeds. I will never have another Ford chassis, the old saying you only get one chance to make a first impression and Ford blew it. Barring totaling our unit I’ll drive it until we can’t go anymore, we’re in our mid 70s now so it’ll last as long as we do.

Many thanks.
I wish I had one of those V10's that people say they get 7.5 to 8.5 and so forth. I have a 36 foot Bounder 35K. With a scan guage telling me the story in hill country I get 5.5 and on good level ground I may get 6.5. But I push it pretty hard and I have added the 5 star tuner to get more power out of it, which now it has. That my friend is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Good post. That pretty much nails it.

You could take a group of ten drivers, let them drive the same vehicle, and it wouldn't matter what it is for a vehicle, and everyone's mileage numbers would differ. No two drivers drive the same way. Some are conservative while others are throttle jockeys but every one of the drivers would claim they got the best numbers of anyone else.
There are too many variables to consider. Hilly terrain, flat open roads, stop and go, head winds etc. etc.
I started checking my MH's mileage when I first got it. After the second tank of gas I quit checking. I do think I have some friends in the Middle East though.
Good luck reaching a realistic number here. Should be an interesting thread to watch though. Let the fun begin.

Finally, an honest answer. I had a 31’ class C some years ago. I tried driving different ways to find the best mileage. I had mpg averaging anywhere from 4 to 8 miles per gallon. As mentioned , terrain, weather conditions will all affect your mileage. Good luck with your journey. Know that it is going to cost whatever it costs. Doesn’t matter, your doing it for the fun and adventure!

First off it's no one of our concerns. We didn't buy an RV to be even slightly concerned about fuel mileage. It's out home away from home on wheels.

I do watch two things. Our Scan Gauge and the Fords information center.

The Scan Gauge gives me an average for the tank and an instant fuel mileage indication. That tells me what the head/tail winds and terrain are effecting the mileage. Can't do much about it but it's fun to watch.

Secondly after we fill up I like to know the "Miles Until Empty" from the Ford information center. It's probably using my last tanks average and estimating how far I'll go on the next tank. That's give you a good idea of the winds. We have gotten as high a 665 (good tail wind) and as low as 560. We usually average around 565 to 575.

Exactamundo! 6-7-8, makes little difference. Whatever your mileage, it’s the price of owning an RV and being free to enjoy the experiences! For those who remember, “See the USA in a Chevrolet, “ many of us are doing that, except in Ford V-10. God bless the USA.

We have a 1999 32ft Fleetwood Bounder with the V10. We get between 7-9mpg. Along gulf coast was always about 9mpg. When there's a lot of hill climbs I was amazed we only drop to 7mpg. My normal in Arizona with a 50/50 mix of climbs and downhill we have seen 7.9-8.0 mpg each tank full which I found to be amazing and surprising (driving to/from Phoenix and Showlow).

Confucius say, he who have led foot pay more at the pump!

2018 Tiffin 32SA, recent trip with full fuel and water towing a ski boat, I got just over 7.5MPG. I stick to 60-63 on the highway and easy on the take offs from a stop.

I don't think I would have been able to keep a straight face if he said that to me. Makes you wonder what else he will lie about.

Good luck with the search.
