Monaco entry handle broke

Hi gang.
We have a 2008 Monaco Knight. The entry lever has broken. Actually split at the bottom of paddle. I can still open the door with difficulty by putting my finger under the mechanism and pulling out. So it looks like the inside parts are still functional. Looks like this has happened before to Monaco users.
We are on the road right now. I was thinking of having a welder simply repair the handle since the inside mechanism is still working.
What do you think?
Thanks.
Dan

Handle is probably a pot metal and may not be weldable but you might be able to use an epoxy to bond it back together.

I have a 2010 Diplomat and the same thing happened to me. Unfortunately the handle cannot be repaired. The good news is that it is still available. You can contact Monaco and they can get you one but their price is higher than other suppliers. I checked around online and ended up sending a photo of the existing one to a supplier in Oregon whose name eludes me at the moment. If I am not mistaken I purchased the replacement for around $60 plus shipping, Monaco wanted around $150. The only difference with the new one is that the actual handle will be chrome instead of black.
If you are handy you can change the handle in around an hr.

I had this happen to my previous rig. I actually used JB Weld to put it back together and it worked until I replaced it although I did keep the original as a spare.

Welcome to the forum. These type handles seem to be very common. Check with any rv service center and they may even have one.

According to the welder I called yesterday it is pot metal and can't be welded. I tried JD Weld and it worked for two openings before it failed.

I am struggling with finding a replacement part. I sent a pic to a large used part distributor but they don't carry the part and suggested that I call Trimark for the part number. So I called Trimark and was told I would have to disassemble the door including the window frame to get at the back of the mechanism to find a part number. We are on the road right now and hesitate to take the door apart.
I called Monaco twice and haven't received a return call.
Apparently this part is no longer being used on newer rigs.
A bit frustrating.

I would call trimark as they supply most of the Rv locks, latches, and handles. If it's there lock plug in the handle they likely have the replacement, past or current.

Trimark lock

Unfortunately the best way to identify the correct model latch is to remove it from the door. While the front looks the same the back side does vary between different models. You should be able to go to Monaco's website and get the phone number for parts. I have called them before and never had to wait for a return call. If you provide them with your production number located on the side of the coach they will be able to provide you with the information needed.

Thanks everyone.
The part is on order. Finally found the correct number for Monaco. All they needed was the vin number of the coach.
Looks like the entire door panel and window frame need to be removed to replace the part. Has anyone done this? I have only average mechanical aptitude.
